Candidate Eligibility Requirements
- At least 18 years as of the date of application
- A citizen of the United States of America
- A qualified voter of the City (which in the charter shall mean a person who is registered to vote by the State of Texas, whose registration is effective in the City of Ingram)
- A resident of the City and has resided in the City for at least one year immediately preceding the date of the election
- Not delinquent in the payment of taxes due to the City
- Not otherwise disqualified from serving on the city council by any other provision of law
Application
Per state law, the City Secretary’s Office will accept applications from qualified persons interested in running for an elected office during the filing period. Candidate filing packet / Candidate full packet. (For more information: see candidates)
Candidate Filing Period
May 4, 2024 General Election | |
First day to file an application for a place on the ballot. | January 17, 2024 |
Last day to file an application for a place on the ballot | February 16, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. |
During the filing period, qualified persons may file as candidates from 8 AM – Noon and 1:30 – 5 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, at the City Secretary’s Office at City Hall, 230 Highway 39, Ingram, TX 78025.
